Trapped Between Two Worlds

The documentary Atrapades entre dos mons (Trapped Between Two Worlds) from the TV3 programme Sense Ficció focuses on one of the most unknown and forgotten realities of many Catalan women: women from Muslim families who were born here, or who arrived here long ago. Now, they have lost their fear and have decided to raise their voices to denounce the repression they suffer from both worlds: that of their community of origin and the world that welcomes them.

Unfaithful in the eyes of tradition

They are different from each other, but they suffer the same oppression from a community that repudiates or persecutes them for being unfaithful. The interviewees explain the racism they suffer daily, which makes them feel like “second-class Catalans”.

Unsubmissive voices

The documentary premiered on 24 January on TV3 and managed to attract 47,000 viewers during the programme’s live broadcast (19.2% of the share).
